Community Employment Services provides FREE services for anyone in the community seeking employment and/or training.

Providing assistance in:
  • Individual job search
  • Creating an effective resume
  • Improving interview techniques
  • Upgrading and training opportunities, including access to Second Career funding
  • Accessing Apprenticeship training supports
  • Connecting with employers
  • Information and referrals to programs, services and resources in our community.

Employment Resource Centre

The Employment Resource Centre is a free community resource open to anyone looking for work, whether full-time, part-time, or just for the summer. It provides:
  • Walk-in access to written, audio-visual and computer based material on careers, occupations, employment, the job market, training opportunities and job search skills and strategies
  • Access to phone, fax, photocopier, computers and the Internet
  • Staff assistance

Employment Workshops

 

 
Apprenticeship Training Support Initiatives
  • Provides targeted assistance to people looking for apprenticeship training by connecting them with employers interested in hiring and training apprentices.

Academic Scholarships and Signing Bonus

  • Provides $1,000 scholarships for young people (24 and under) who return and complete academic upgrading to qualify and register as an apprentice.
  • Provides a $2,000 signing bonus for employers who support scholarship recipients’ apprenticeship registration and provide apprenticeship training.

Summer Job Service

 

  • FREE service for students aged 15 to 30 looking for employment that provides hiring incentive to employers. Summer Jobs Service – Assists youth who are returning to school in September with summer employment. This program is available April – August. For more information call 905-575-2368.
