Mohawk College joins Project Hero:
Establishes bursary for children of fallen soldiers
HAMILTON -- Mohawk College is establishing a new $2,500 Project Hero Bursary for children of Canadian Forces personnel who have lost their lives while serving in an active mission.
"The annual Project Hero Bursary at Mohawk College will honour the ultimate sacrifice made by our Canadian Forces by supporting the education of their sons and daughters," says President Rob MacIsaac.
Mohawk joins a growing number of colleges and universities from across Canada that have joined the Project Hero Program, an initiative co-founded by Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Kevin Reed and Retired General Rick Hillier.
To be eligible for the Project Hero Bursary, the applicants are required to be:
- The son or daughter of Canadian Forces personnel who have lost their lives while serving in an active mission.
- A full-time student.
- An Ontario resident for a minimum of 12 months.
- A Canadian citizen, Permanent resident or Protected person.
- In financial need.
- Meet college academic requirements.
The annual Project Hero Bursary at Mohawk College is funded through proceeds from the College's past 50/50 Draws.
