New Employee Safety Orientation
Safety Orientation Training covers:
- Rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the associated regulations.
- Emergency procedures such as fire evacuation, lockdown, first aid and/or medical emergencies and accident/incident reporting.
- General workplace hazards.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
- Workplace Violence and Harassment
- Health and safety resources available to you.
- Review the New Employee Safety Orientation presentation and the required readings listed below.
- Complete the New Employee Orientation Test.
- Login to your Mohawk e-Learn account (https://elearn.mohawkcollege.ca/) using your MOCOMOTION username and password, and complete the Basic or Advanced WHMIS modules and tests, and the Workplace Violence and Harassment modules and tests. Print the Certificates of Completion for both WHMIS and Workplace Violence and Harassment training.
- Print the Employee/Supervisor Safety Orientation Review Form, review it with your supervisor and submit it to the OHS Office in room F102 within one (1) week of your start date.
- Review your job specific safety requirements with your supervisor to determine if you require additional training.
