Highlights
- Apprentices must first register with the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities prior to enrollment in the Child Development Practitioner, Phone 1800-668-4479
- Theory content and “in-school” portion can be taken in the evenings (3hrs/2 nights weekly) or through blended online delivery
- Learning to foster the development of the whole child and recognize individual abilities
- Experiences will include opportunities to observe children at our onsite Family Resource Program or other agency partners, field placements with a wide variety of age groups at the apprentice’s place of employment, as well as other organizations
- The Child Development Practitioner Certificate from the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities is awarded upon successful completion of 4000-6000 “on-the-job” hours in addition to “in-school” ECE courses
- In addition to the Child Development Practitioner Certificate, the apprentice may work towards an ECE Diploma upon successful completion of a College English and a specified number of General Education courses
- Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program is also offered for senior secondary students to attend Child Development Practitioner Training and work with employers in a co-op education work placement as registered apprentices

- Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) - Challenge exams are available for each course in the ECE Apprenticeship Program.
