English as a Second Language (ESL) Applicants
If English is not your first language, we invite you to find out your current language level by taking the Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLBPT). There is a $60 charge for the assessment. The CLBPT assesses your ability in 4 key areas:- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
We know that to be successful in college, you need to achieve certain minimum scores in each area. The test takes about 2 hours to complete. It will take approximately one business day to receive your results at which time you can make an appointment with the coordinator to discuss the options available to you if you need more language training.
- To take the CLBPT, please sign up in Room J137D at the Fennell Campus, or call 905-575-1212 Ext. 3569.
- If you have recently arrived in Canada and you have taken a CLBA from the YMCA Settlement and Immigration Services, it is not necessary for you to take this test.
