Jonathan Vize is an award-winning broadcast professional whose career began at CTV Toronto through a student internship at Mohawk College. Nearly a decade later, Jonathan became an integral part of the CTV Newsroom and management team as Senior Manager of Broadcast Operations, overseeing one of the largest groups at CTV in Toronto. In 2014, he was awarded the Bell Media Inspiration Award for his commitment to excellence and productivity.

In 2017, Jonathan shifted to CHCH News in Hamilton, where he coordinated and assigned daily news coverage, generated story ideas, and stays on top of breaking news as the Assignment Editor at CHCH News. 

Jonathan is now the Director of Content for Goodable, a news platform that provides good news to help people live a happier and healthier life.

Since graduating from Mohawk’s Television and Communications Media Program, Kat Clark has worked at television stations throughout the GTHA including CTS, CHCH, and Cable 14 and for production companies on film sets and national television shows like “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” and the JUNO Awards.

In 2015 Kat transitioned to radio broadcasting and has thrived in her role as the swing announcer and promotions director for KX947, KX96, 949 The Rock, CKDO, Durham Radio News, Wave.FM, 92.9 The Grand and launching soon: 88.5 The Lake!

She also spends time working with her husband and fellow Mohawk Students’ Association past president, Daniel Clark at his company Cithara Guitars Inc. which is a custom guitar shop and repair center for musical instruments located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Kat returned to Mohawk in the winter of 2019 as a part-time faculty member, educating second-year radio students in their final semester and preparing them for the workforce as future-ready graduates.

Lucas is a proud graduate of Mohawk's journalism program. While studying, he was a victim services volunteer, a member of the Canadian Forces reserves, and a staff writer and radio host for the campus newspaper and radio station.

He converted an internship with CBC News Network into an associate producer position for the broadcasting corporation's News Now program. Lessons learned in seeking truth and helping others were transferred into his life-long dream of becoming a sworn police officer for the Hamilton Police Service.

Lucas is currently assigned to the youth and school office in the city’s core and has volunteered in multiple events aimed at enhancing young lives. He was also a lead in two events that raised about $10,000 to send 30 kids back-to-school shopping with police officers. He aims to continue to serve others in various ways in partnership with the community.

Graduating from General Business in 2016, Kyle Datzkiw is a proud Mohawk College Alumni from the McKeil School of Business. While there is so much to appreciate about the education he received during his time at Mohawk, Kyle is most proud of his time spent outside of the classroom with the Mohawk Students’ Association (MSA).

Kyle served two terms on the Board of Directors for the MSA, including a term as president in 2016-2017. Having always had a passion for customer service and assisting others, Kyle now works as a Financial Services Manager for Performance Mercedes-Benz in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Outside of work, Kyle takes great pride in remaining involved in the community. As a member of the coaching staff for the basketball program at Westmount Secondary School, he looks to be able to mentor and support the potential future Mohawk students of tomorrow.

Yash graduated from Mohawk’s Motive power, program Yash secured a position as an Automotive Service Technician at Canadian Tire Burlington, Appleby Line Location. After obtaining red-seal certification Yash joined ProServe Automotive Inc Burlington as Senior Service Technician. Yash also volunteers with Andy’s Son-Rise program, where he plays and interacts with a boy named Andy. He is helping Andy step out of autism. While at Mohawk Yash received many awards for his academic successes and community involvement including a Celebration of Learning Rising Star award.

After graduating from Mohawk's media department Linda's career has taken her across the country and includes media sales in radio at Q107, PRN and Canadian Broadcast Sales, a weather specialist and morning show host at The Weather Network in Montreal and Ontario, morning show host and location producer for Vancouver Breakfast (CTV), back up sports and weather host on Canada AM, radio hosting at Country 95.3 Toronto, and host and producer, host, videographer of Hamilton Life and City Matters at Cable 14, Hamilton.

Linda has also contributed her talents to Mohawk College as a part-time instructor and has volunteered as a host for productions for International Women's Day and Media panels.

Linda has left her long career in media to join the Mohawk College Foundation Team as Senior Development Officer Academic partnerships. Bringing her full circle.

Read Amanda's Bio

Amanda White is Ojibwe with family from Wiikwemkoong Manitoulin Island, and was born and raised in Hamilton. Amanda has worked at Mohawk College within Indigenous Student Services (ISS) for well over a decade supporting Indigenous learners on their educational journey. As Manager of Indigenous Student Services, Amanda had overseen and supported the ISS team with a new team model that reduces barriers, and supports Indigenous learner access, transition, retention, and engagement towards their graduation and employment success. During that time, Amanda was also the lead on developing and running the highly acclaimed Pathfinder: Indigenous Youth Program since its inception in 2011, and in 2022 was able to bring the Pathfinder team and students to the World Indigenous People’s Conference on Education in Australia. 

In May 2023, Amanda was appointed as Acting Director for the Centre of Indigenous Relations, Knowledge, and Learning (CIRKL), supporting Indigenous education and initiatives at Mohawk College including Indigenous Knowledge Learning Outcomes, policy development, and partnerships. Amanda’s contributions have spanned across the college as PT faculty in Liberal Studies for Indigenous courses, facilitator for professional development internally and externally, and serving on the Board of Governors. 

Amanda is a three-time alumna of Mohawk College from Graphic Design -Creative, Comic Design & Scripting, and Event management. She also holds a BA in English language and literature from Queen’s University.

David Folk

David Folk is a proud Mohawk College graduate and Alumni of Distinction Award recipient. Since graduation in 1988 from Architectural Technology, David’s career in the construction industry has taken him throughout Canada to live, work and play and has been filled with many opportunities for learning, mentoring and coaching.

 

Beginning his tenure at PCL Constructors Inc. 25 years ago, David has distinguished himself as a top-tier construction professional. As Senior Project Manager, he has led many complex construction projects in Ontario including a number of hospitals and an LRT operations and storage facility. He has also supported projects for major facilities such as Scotiabank Arena, Yorkdale Shopping Centre and Casino Windsor.

David volunteers extensively with Mohawk College as an alumni mentor, Program Advisory Committee member and supporter of micro-credential initiatives, as well as gives back to the Flamborough Minor Hockey Association and the United Way for Hamilton-Halton. In addition, David provides leadership and insight to local and regional professional associations including the Hamilton Halton General Contractors Association where he serves as President.

Careena Browne is a proud two-time graduate of Mohawk College and former Mountaineers basketball athlete. After completing the Health, Wellness and Fitness program, Careena enrolled in Child and Youth Care, where her student placement at the John Howard Society of Hamilton led to a permanent position as a Youth Worker. Careena then transitioned to work at Lynwood Charlton Compass Elementary School as a SR Child Care Practitioner in a section 23 classroom focused on mental health treatment. Careena has since accepted a role in a new position with the Hamilton Catholic District School board as a graduation coach for black students. Supporting black secondary school students to alleviate barriers, nurture academic success, strengthen personal identity and foster holistic wellness.

Owner, Hamilton Mountain Franchise, Hickory Dickory Decks and part time teacher at the Marshall School of Trades

Brad Arnold has built a successful career in construction and hopes to inspire others to pursue a path in skilled trades. He is a licenced designer, red seal certified carpenter and president of the head office of Hickory Dickory Decks, the largest deck company in Canada.

Brad completed his apprenticeship in carpentry in 2002, after six years of sales experience at Hickory Dickory Decks. Progressing within the company, he has moved from sales to building and designing decks, training other carpenters, vice president, to president and part-owner of the parent company. Brad has received all eight company awards during his tenure and is a respected expert in his field.

With a fulfilling career, it is important to Brad that he mentors young people considering the trades. He often shares his story and insights with students, sponsors apprentices and hires and trains graduates from Mohawk College.

Jess Westbrook recently graduated from the Architectural Technology Program. While they attended, they were a Student Representative, member of MoCrew and the MSA Inclusivity and Social Responsibility Committee, as well as a McKeil Student Community Involvement Award winner. During their time at Mohawk, they were always looking for new ways to give back to the Mohawk community on top of the volunteering they did for local events each year. They were also involved with the Women in Technology group at Mohawk, and still are as an alumni. They have always promoted equity and inclusion in their goals and continue to do so in professional settings. They are now using skills learned from the Construction Management stream working in IT Change Management.
