Premier's Award

The Premier's Awards for graduates of Ontario's colleges honour the important social and economic contribution college graduates make to Ontario and throughout the world. Annually the Premier's Awards for Ontario College Graduates honour six outstanding graduates in the following categories:

Chosen from nominations submitted by Ontario’s 24 colleges, nominees demonstrate outstanding career success related to their college experience and have made a significant contribution to their community. The individual’s career achievements will be given top priority.


Congratulations to Mohawk Alumni Sarah Moir on receiving
the 2010 Ontario Premier's Award in the Recent Graduate Category!

SarahMoir-Premiers1  Since graduating from Mohawk’s Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship in 2008, Sarah Moir has accomplished a great deal. After suffering most of her life with mental illness, Sarah is now the founder and president of Crazy Daisy, a social enterprise focused on the promotion of mental wellness through the sale of floral arrangements. Realizing her dream in providing a supportive place of employment that could offer other psychiatric survivors exactly what she had been looking for – an identity beyond a diagnosis, a place in society, a living wage and social interaction.

Not only does Sarah run a successful non-for-profit organization with an extensive list of clients including, the Trillium Foundation, the Hamilton Community Foundation, and Mohawk College, but she has been involved with charities such as Rainbow’s End and North Hamilton Community Centre. She continues to strive to spread awareness about mental health and the stigma’s surrounding mental illness including pairing up with the Mental Health Rights Coalition for a workplace mental health campaign.

Most recently, this past January, Sarah was the recipient of the Mohawk Alumni of Distinction Award in the Recent Graduate category.
