Club Team: Brantford Briers 2004-2012, KW Lightning Juel 2013

Awards/Medals: 2005/2006 NBA Hoop It Up World Championships, CWOSSA Champions 2009-2012, OFSAA AAA participant 2010-2012, OBA Champions 2012

Why I Chose Mohawk: I chose Mohawk because I really like the new Human Services Foundation program, as it is a great introductory program for all careers in the field. I also love the city, the students seem enthusiastic, and the environment is somewhere I would like to spend and share my college experience with.

Coaches Comment: Jessica is a heart and soul type player. She has a motor that just doesn't shut off, her energy and enthusiasm are contagious and will provide a great spark for our team at both ends of the court. Jessica is extremely versatile as she can play 3 positions at both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. We look forward not only to her offensive contributions, but her ability to shut down players on defense.

stef hrymak new recruit basketball
Stef Hrymak

Height: 5'5

Position: Shooting Guard

Attended: Westdale Secondary School

Club Team: Blessed Sacrament

Awards/Medals: 2010 HS Junior MVP, 4 City Championships, 2 Tournament MVPs for Blessed Sacrament in 2013

Why I Chose Mohawk: I chose to go to Mohawk because I feel the course that I have chosen to pursue is just what I want to excel and have a future in. After touring the campus and seeing all the new changes taking place, I believe it is the right choice for me. I'm excited to further my education here at Mohawk and to continue the experience of playing College Basketball. I am looking forward to learn from my new teammates and coaches.

Coaches Comment: Stefanie is a magnificent outside shooter, her presence on the court will spread defenses out and allow lanes for her teammates. Stef plays much bigger than she is, she has a great ability to anticpate plays and always seems to be in the middle of everything on the court. Stef comes from a great high school program at Westdale high school, she has been coached extremely well and will be able to draw on her past experiences to help her through the year.

Shamira Kerlew

Height: 6'2

Position: Forward

Attended: Seneca College

Club Team: Wild Cats

Awards/Medals: Rookie of the year at Seneca, MVP senior year of high school

Why I Chose Mohawk: I chose Mohawk college for numerous of reasons; first because I have decided that I want to represent Hamilton. Hopefully I can help become the positive face for Hamilton and Mohawk College. I also know how great coach Kevin Duffy is and he has been extremely patient with me over the past couple of years. With Mohawk being the number 1 college in Ontario, and my program being one of the most popular, it is a huge honor to be accepted after being put on a waiting list! Its finally all coming together, and I am extremely excited for this coming September to play along side with the girls on the basketball team and attend school!

Coaches Comment: Shamira will be a strong physical presence for us on the court. She is a tremendous rebounder and communicator on defense. We love the added toughness she will bring to our team, especially in the interior of our defense. Offensively, Shamira has a great touch around net and will truly compliment our perimeter players. We also look forward to Shamira bringing a lot of leadership and guidance to our younger players.

The second being able to challenge myself by playing at the next level, Mohawk offers an incredible basketball program with knowledgable coaches and skilled players that will push me to better myself. I am excited to be a part of the Mohawk team along side my coaches and teammates.

Coaches Comment: We will be looking for Grace to be a presence for us in the post position. She will add depth for us down low at both ends of the court. Grace, had a very successful high school career and we will be looking forward to her to continue those successes here at Mohawk.

Position: Guard

Attended: North Park Collegiate

Club Team: Brantford Briers

Awards/Medals: 2010-2012 AAA OFSAA participant, 2011-2012 Hamilton Spectator All-Star Classic participant

Why I Chose Mohawk: I decided to go to Mohawk because the MoMac Nursing program is practical and in my opinion one of the best programs in Ontario. I'm really excited about becoming a member of the Varsity Basketball team. I feel it is a great competitive program and I can't wait to begin my post secondary experience with my new teammates and coaches.

Coaches Comment: Allyson is a quick, athletic guard who can play both the one and two positions for us. She will add instant scoring for us with her deep shooting range and ability to attack off the dribble. We also value Allyson's strengths as a defensive player, she is a great communicator with her teammates and her quick feet allow her to defend perimeter players one on one.
