As a recent graduate of Mohawk’s Business Accounting Co-op program I am pleased to say that my two years at Mohawk College have been well worthwhile. The staff are supportive and understanding, and they wish only to see their students succeed in their chosen career paths. I chose to attend Mohawk as it provided me different options for both my educational and career paths. What attracted me most to the Accounting program at Mohawk was the opportunity to further pursue a professional designation as a CGA (Certified General Accountant). If I had not decided to return to school to get my diploma my job prospects were few, and lacking the career advancements I sought. Mohawk College has provided me with the knowledge and tools necessary to be successful in both my career and personal life. I would strongly recommend to anyone wishing to pursue a career in business and in accounting too look closely at the opportunities Mohawk College has to offer.

“I went to Royal Bank as a co-op student. During the first co-op term Royal Bank management offered me 2nd co-op term. While I was in the 2nd co-op term, a full-time position as a personal banker was offered to me and was told to join Royal Bank as soon as I finish my final semester. I got the formal appointment letter on 30th of March 2001 before my final semester was to finish on April 16th, 2001.I am glad and very lucky that I opted for the right program i.e. Business Accounting Diploma (co-op). I am sure that without this program I would not have been able to get in to the job market before even finishing my final semester. Good Luck new students!”

“At BDO Dunwoody LLP - an international accounting and advisory firm - we have been using co-op students from the the business program at Mohawk College for approximately 10 years with much success. We have found the students to be well educated, mature and a pleasure to work with. The knowledge that the students bring to the co-op position meets our needs. With minimal training the students are able to prepare financial statements, corporate tax returns and various other tax and accounting related functions.
Our goal is to hire the students full time once their co-op term has been completed. We have been fortunate to hire many of them and we currently have some long-term employees who began with BDO as co-op students many years ago. "After graduating from the Accounting Co-op program in 2002, I continued my studies at Mohawk College and entered into the Business Administration program in year three. This program provided me with a full understanding of all aspects of business from finance to business management and organizational behaviour. In 2003, I left Mohawk College to continue my studies at a local university in pursuit of my Certified Management Accounting designation. I graduated from university in April of 2005 with first-class standings and have qualified for the accelerated program with the CMA Association of Canada. Mohawk College provided me with the knowledge and skills required to succeed! Although, it has been several years since I left Mohawk College, the professors have continued to support me. They have been there to provide advice, as well as help me in securing an employment position after graduation. Having a student each term and the option to have the same student for a second term allows me enough time to train and measure their performance.
