Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Designation
The Business - Financial Services Diploma prepares students to write the first competency exam, which is the necessary first step to obtain the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Students successfully completing this Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) Accredited Education program and who wish to receive the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation must pass the CFP Accreditation exam which is scheduled in June and November of each year. In addition students must also meet the two-year work experience requirements to be eligible for CFP licensing.
The CFP designation is an industry-recognized professional designation that is administered by The Financial Planners Standards Council of Canada (FPSCC). For more information visit www.cfp-ca.org
Note: Registered students who have been convicted of an offence under the criminal code for which they have not been pardoned may be denied the opportunity to enter work placement. A certificate of “Police Clearance” and/or “Consent to Disclosure” may be requested by the work placement agency.
Mutual
Funds License
Graduates will also fulfill the course work to write the Mutual Funds License examination and to qualify to write the Life License Provincial examination to be licensed as Life Agents.
Canadian
Professional Sales Association (CPSA)
Graduates can apply to receive a Professional Sales Certificate from the Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA). Graduates will also receive credit points toward the Certified Sales Professional, the next CPSA designation, when they incorporate work experience with their academic training.
