Course Cancellations / Withdrawals / Refunds

Course Cancellations

Mohawk College reserves the right to limit, cancel, adjust or relocate classes/courses without notice, if necessary.

Courses may be cancelled if they do not meet minimum enrolment levels before the start date. The College will try diligently to contact you in advance of a cancellation. However, the College cannot assume responsibility for any expenses incurred if you arrive for a class which has been cancelled or rescheduled. A full refund will be issued for courses cancelled by the College.

To ensure we can reach you, keep your personal contact information up-to-date through your MyMohawk (opens in new window) account. Visit the Update Personal Information in MyMohawk Guide (opens in new window) for details. You can also update your personal information through the Continuing Education Registration Platform Student Home. Login and choose My Student account.

Long weekends

Classes MIGHT NOT be scheduled on long weekends. Please check with your instructor.

Temporary Closures / Emergency Situations

The College may close in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen situations. Visit our Emergencies on Campus web page for details.

Register your number on SAM, the Mohawk College Security Alert Messenger, to receive text messages regarding College closures.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Deadline dates apply to all withdrawals. These dates can be viewed in the section information (prior to registration) or inside your Continuing Education Registration Student Home (after registration).

Withdraw online through your Continuing Education Registration Student Home. If you require assistance, email cereg@mohawkcollege.ca.

It is not sufficient to inform only your instructor. You MUST officially withdraw using one of the methods above.

Changes to your registration status may impact your Financial Assistance eligibility. If you are a Financial Assistance recipient, contact Financial Assistance prior to withdrawing.

Withdraw (with refund)

In most cases, to be eligible for a refund you must withdraw before the day of the second scheduled class. Exceptions apply – the dates published in the CE Registration Platform will be considered the official deadlines.

A $20.00 administration fee per course will be withheld. If you withdraw prior to the published deadline, whether or not you actually attended, all fees will be refunded minus the administration fee. No refund will be issued for withdrawals submitted after the deadline, whether or not you actually attended.

If you have an outstanding balance with the College any refund will be applied to that balance.

Refunds are issued by cheque if the original payment was made in person OR by your employer or sponsoring agency.

Refunds are issued to the original credit card if the payment was made online.

Allow a minimum of four weeks processing time for refunds.

Withdraw (without refund) to avoid academic penalty

Typically, this option is available to students from the time the withdraw (with refund) period closes until ten days before the end of the course. Exceptions apply – the dates published in the CE Registration Platform will be considered the official deadlines.

Withdrawing to avoid academic penalty will result in a grade of “W” on your transcript. This will not impact your GPA.

You will not receive a refund.
