Instructor for Blind & Visually Impaired - Rehabilitation (Teaching) Graduate Certificate program
The Instructor for Blind & Visually Impaired - Rehabilitation (Teaching) program is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate offered at Brantford Campus in Brantford, Ontario. It is the only full-time, English-speaking program of its kind in Canada.
Students will have the opportunity to:
- Develop skills to teach children and adults with vision losses to develop or enhance their independent living, communication, leisure, and basic orientation and mobility skills
- Develop techniques to create personal learning plans and individualized programs to build skills and confidence in the outlined skill areas with clients
- Develop specific techniques to identify the particular needs and interests of individual clients
- Experience practical learning under blindfold or low vision simulation
Field Placement
- Participate in a supervised, 14-week comprehensive (full-time) practicum
- All students will be required to complete 3 different placement experiences at 3 different agencies.
- Placements for this program can be in various locations throughout Ontario and Canada
- Students must prepare financially and personally to relocate and/or commute to their assigned placements. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and within placements
