Police Foundations Admission Requirements
Minimum requirements for admission to the Police Foundations Diploma program
Program follows guidelines set by the Ministry of the Solicitor General for the Province of Ontario. Employers will require a CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK.
- OSSD or equivalent (Mohawk Academic Upgrading, GED) including:
- Grade 12 English, C or U or equivalent
- Law and/or Community and Justice Services courses recommended
- Ideal for Pre-Justice graduates
- Participation in the Justice and Wellness Studies Orientation Session, Criminal Records Check (Pardons are possible, seek legal counsel) and written assignment submission may be used to assess applicants
- Options are available for mature applicants. Please contact Admissions for more information
Applicants should note that:
- they must be able to take part in fitness courses throughout the four semesters of the program
- employers require a criminal records check
- some employment opportunities require that certain physical standards, driving abstracts and health standards including vision must be met
- Students are required to successfully complete an aptitude test designed for policing careers and a written assessment to graduate
- Dual diploma opportunities within the Justice and Wellness program cluster beyond common first year courses
- Advanced Standing from university possible
