Credential: Ontario College Graduate CertificateProgram Number: 871
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program is available via Distance Education. The program is designed to meet the needs of Nurses currently employed in a critical care setting who wish to improve their knowledge and skills, or nurses who are currently working in other settings and wish to prepare themselves to function effectively in a critical care setting. There are six theory modules and four clinical placements included in the program of study. Module 1 is a prerequisite or co-requisite for other courses. The other courses may be completed in any order. Each theory course is offered through Distance Education each term - fall, winter and spring. The clinical courses are advertised in the Health Sciences section of the Continuing Education catalogues.
Each of the four clinical placements is available for you to complete once the corresponding theory courses have been completed. Clinical experience is negotiated by the Program Manager with appropriate clinical settings based on the stated objectives of the module, the student's identified needs, availability of clinical sites, and the student's work schedule.
The Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process may be used for some clinical experiences, based on your documented clinical skills.
