Emergency Medical Responder Training

Interested in knowing more than just first aid or want enhanced knowledge in dealing with a medical emergency in your workplace? Then consider Emergency Medical Responder training. As an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), you may be a member of any of the three emergency services: Ambulance, Fire, or Police, or you may be a specially-trained industrial responder, workplace health & safety member, Occupational Health Nurse, private citizen or public employee.

This course of study is designed to teach you advanced knowledge in dealing with a medical emergency. It provides the knowledge and skill sets needed in an emergency to help maintain life, and reduce mortality and pain both in trauma and sudden illness. This course meets and follows the curriculum requirements of the Paramedic Association of Canada’s National Competency Profile.

COURSE OF STUDIES

The course of study is divided into two semester segments as it is 80 hours in duration.

You must complete both semesters to receive certification. The duration of certification validation is 3 years and is overseen by a qualified medical director.

There is a written test and practical component as part of the evaluation and you must reach a minimum of 75% to pass.

The program includes certification in CPR at the health care provider (HCP) level and Automated External Defibrillation. The certification will be Heart & Stroke association of Canada and is instructed by a certified Heart and stroke instructor. Meets and exceeds OHS regulation in advanced first aid.
