PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Intended for experienced dressmakers, fashion teachers and others interested in fashion and design, which can lead to a challenging career opportunity or for personal enrichment. The program skillfully combines two separate but complementary components - technical skills in pattern design and drafting, allowing you to move beyond dependence on commercial patterns and the creation of individualized designs. This is coupled with other fashion related areas including drawing, colour and figure theory, textile and costume awareness. This broad-based knowledge encourages participants to appreciate the potential for creative expression and individuality inherent in fashion.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- O.S.S.D., Mature Student Status or equivalent. Secondary school English or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of dressmaking skills is a prerequisite for the pattern making courses in this program.
PROGRAM OF STUDIES
To receive the certificate, you must successfully complete 7 mandatory courses and one option course. The first 5 courses must be taken in the following order:
