GIS, a popular and affordable technology, provides the ability to automate map production and integrate earth imagery with other data to solve geographic problems. Develop or enhance your skills and knowledge in effective use and management of GIS. Designed for managers, technical professionals, and support staff responsible for managing and using GIS, Urban Planners, Civil and Transportation engineers and individuals in resources management and business.
Benefits / Highlights
Throughout the Program, you will learn how to use various GIS software platforms, such as ArcGIS, data management, and you will learn how to use GPS technology and how it can be used on GIS mapping. There are 8 courses in the Program and it all depends on your lifestyle and workload on how long it takes to complete the Program. You may take as many courses as you like in each semester to complete the Program, but we highly recommend you take the prerequisite courses before taking particular courses (Please see the Program of Studies or the Continuing Education course catalogue). All of the courses are completed online - there aren't any on-campus courses.
Recommend Requirements: None, only a desire to learn GIS.

Program Learning Outcomes
When you successfully complete all of the required courses, you will receive the Geographic Information Systems Certificate, acknowledging your achievement and training in the courses that have been covered throughout the Program. Upon achieving the Certificate, you will have gained an understanding of the fundamentals of GIS theory, GIS software, GPS equipment, data management and structure, remote sending, and internet mapping. You will also understand how al the courses incorporate hand-in-hand with each other, how you can incorporate certain GIS initiatives within your job using what you have learned in the Program, and what the various job markets are looking for in the GIS proficiency today.
