Safe, accurate, effective and ethical medication administration is an important responsibility in nursing. Based on current standards of practice from CNO, nurses will discuss professional responsibilities in administrating medication as well as the knowledge, skill and judgement required to be competent.

Basic Footcare for RNs and RPNs - NRSGHZPAE

Update and expand knowledge and skills of RN or RPN as relates to foot care. Assessment, patient teaching and non-invasive foot care, including reduction of normal nails will be demonstrated and practiced in a lab setting. Prior to workshop, learners are to complete independent learning module and should NOT cut toenails. Bring proof of CNO registration to class.

Theory of Advanced Footcare Practices-RNs & RPNs - NRSGHZ152

Focus on the assessment and care of high risk feet in theory and lab sessions. Pathological conditions and infection control are discussed and packing and strapping are practiced. Prerequisite: Basic foot care course from a community college within the past two years.

Intravenous Therapy - RN  - NRSGNSC90

This course provides a comprehensive update for nurses caring for patients receiving IV therapy. Content includes a review of pertinent anatomy and physiology as a foundation for discussion on IV solutions, equipment, starting IVs, patient assessment and appropriate nursing care. Basic Blood Collection - MLSCML123

Involves all aspects of the safe collection of capillary and venous blood samples. Along with the theoretical aspects, skill practice involves the use of artificial arms. Appropriate for people working in clinical settings such as Doctor’s offices, blood collection centers, and hospital laboratories. Skills practice is done on artifical arms. Opportunites for practice on students volunteers will be available.

Focus on pediatric cardio respiratory disorders in a community context with emphasis on pathology, medical management, ongoing assessment, medication administration and other factors influencing patient wellbeing. Prerequisite: NRSG10057.  Exemption from NRSG10057 may be granted via PLAR for RNs and RPNs who have current work experience with pediatric assessment.
