PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The science and practice of industrial lubrication have become increasingly complex with the development of different types of oils and lubricants. Today's lubrication specialist's primary role is to ensure smooth running of industrial plant or production equipment with efficient use of various products. Effective lubrication practices avoid costly breakdowns, accelerate production, and reduce costs.

Offered in co-operation with the Hamilton section of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), this program is intended for individuals currently employed in industry with some responsibility for lubrication who wish to enhance their knowledge of industrial lubrication. Applicants who complete the program should be prepared to write the STLE Lubrication Specialist Certification Examination.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants preferably should have employment responsibilities involving lubrication and several years of related experience. Secondary school background with chemistry, physics and mathematics would be an asset.

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

To receive the Certificate, you must successfully complete the following 5 courses and apply in writing to the Continuing Education Engineering Technology Office.

Candidates who wish to write the Lubrication Specialist Certification Examination of STLE must apply directly to the Society, however, the College will provide information, application forms and a schedule of dates and locations.
