Industrial Mechanic Millwright Certificate

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Construction Millwrights and Industrial Mechanics install, maintain and repair stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Their duties involve the operation of hoisting and lifting devices, troubleshooting machinery and adjusting or replacing defective parts. They also operate machine tools to fabricate parts and perform routine maintenance on machinery. Construction Millwrights are employed by millwrighting contractors; Industrial Mechanics are generally employed in manufacturing plants, utilities and other industrial establishments.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants require a minimum of Grade 12.  Work experience in some aspect of the trade is an asset.

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

To receive the Certificate, you must successfully complete the following certificates/courses and apply in writing to the Continuing Education Engineering Technology Office.

Machine Tool Operator Certificate
Welder Operator Certificate
Courses required: RE234, RE237 and RE154
Fluid Power Certificate
Courses required: MF100, MF101, MF102 and MF103
Maintenance Mechanic Fundamentals Certificate
Electrical Fundamentals Certificate

NOTE

Many courses in the program are credits in existing Continuing Education programs. Therefore, it is anticipated that a number of applicants will be eligible for advanced standing in this program. This program may be considered equivalent to the in-school requirements of the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprenticeship Program by the Apprenticeship branch. Each candidate will be evaluated by the Apprenticeship branch individually.
