Instrumentation Courses
Continuing Education Engineering Technology offers a series of courses in instrumentation to assist participants in developing or upgrading their skills in this field.
INSTRE047 - Instrumentation 1
This course covers the terminology, concepts, principles and computations used by engineers and technicians to specify, analysis and maintain instrumentation systems. It emphasizes practices in industry so that students learn what aspects of plant instrumentation are critical. Students learn concept of instrumentation and measurements, discuss fundamental theory and operating principles of instrumentation in industry. Practical examples are used for many common pressure, level, temperature, flow, and data acquisition measuring systems.INSTRE155 - Instrumentation 2
After completing this course, the student should be able to identify, install, check out and replace or adjust controllers and valves, and identify, check out and adjust typical industrial control systems and explain their operation. He should also be able to identify, install, check out and replace or adjust analyzers for flue gases, pH and conductivity. Prerequisite: INSTRE047 or equivalent.
INSTRE131 - Instrumentation 3
After completing this course, the student should be able to identify the main components of a Distributed Control System (DCS), and use appropriate software tools to configure the controller and basic operator station displays.
