Registered Nurse - Operating Room Nursing Certificate

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program, designed in accordance with the Standards of Practice of Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada, is intended to prepare Registered Nurses to function effectively in the operating room. The need for specialized peri-operative nursing education reflects the increasing complexity of operating room nursing knowledge, judgement and skills.
Offered in new blended format combining classroom delivery with distance learning.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Application for the program must be completed and approved by Program Manager prior to registration. Application forms are available from Alma Janke at 905-540-4247 ext. 26258.
- Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- Permission from Program Manager, medical clearance and mask fit testing are required for the program.
PROGRAM OF STUDIES
To receive the Certificate, you must successfully complete the following seven courses. Introduction to Operating Room Nursing (NRSG10031) is a prerequisite to all other courses.
