Social Service Worker Diploma

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Equivalent to the dayschool program. This program is designed to prepare students to perform various functions for Social Service agencies including: interviewing, assessment, counselling and assisting clients by linking them to resources in the community.

HIGHLIGHTS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants require Grade 12 (or equivalent) including 70% in English, or mature student status with admission tests. Applicants must complete a program questionnaire. Related volunteer experience is strongly recommended.

This program has a Fall (September) intake only.  Applications must be received on or before June 15 each year in order to be considered. Students will be notified, in writing, of the status of their application by August 1.

PROGRAM OF STUDIES

Field Placement is a required component of the Social Service Worker Program. Students learn to apply theoretical social service worker knowledge in different agency settings in the community. Students complete a minimum of 600 hours of practicum, supervised by qualified human service workers within the agency setting.
