Smurfit - MacMillan
Structural Design

Has established a position in our Structural Design Department.
Specifically, the job with 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. working hours (can be
made flexible) entails retrieving selective customer designs from our
AutoCAD system, transferring those designs to a buffer and from there to a
plotter. We have two plotters- 1 66" by 110" laser comb flatbed and a 36" by
48" Hewlett Packard rotary. The created Mylar¹s are used in the steel die
manufacturing process and also for art and preprint die layouts.

This position will also give the individual exposure to corrugated design
and sample making

Packaging Specialist

Details:

The Packaging Specialist will:

  • Manage all the technical packaging data within the Brantford facility via our PRISM and SAP program.
  • Coordinate between Ferrero Marketing Departments and the industrial unit for all new packaging projects and technical specifications
  • Work with all internal departments to ensure a smooth transition into production for all new packaging codes created.
  • Assist with quality or other issues related to packaging.
  • Collaborate with Suppliers on new product development and manage all new packaging trials

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a graduate of the Industrial Packaging Program with a minimum of 2 -3 years experience in a similar role with the following experience/knowledge:

  • Knowledge of multi - packaging material –i.e  corrugated, paperboard, plastic
  • Knowledge and hand on experience with Packaging database systems (SAP an asset)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of Design programs i.e autocad, cimex, CAPE
  • Knowledge of production process
  • Knowledge of packaging machinery
  • Knowledge of packaging test methods
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to deal with people from all levels

Position: Prepress Specialist
Details:

Master Packaging Inc. the leader of corrugate and folding carton packaging located in Dieppe, New Brunswick is currently seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to join our team as a Prepress Specialist. 

Responsibilities: As a member of a highly energetic and goal oriented team, you will be mainly responsible for the following: 

  • Preflight and troubleshoot incoming art files
  • Complete up to 8 color separations, including screening, trapping and various outputs
  • Perform color correction for packaging using Photoshop

Requirements and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Prepress Operator
  • Proficient with the use of Macintosh platform (CS4) and InDesign
  • Experience with digital product photography, image color correction and clipping
  • Proven packaging design experience (including packaging structure design)
  • Strong organizational, project management, problem solving and time-management skills
  • Possess strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout and typography, a broad thinker and able to offer a variety of design solutions
  • Able to complete up to eight color separation for flexo and litho printing
  • Firm understanding of the folding carton printing and converting process would be an asset
