Fennell Renewal
With a belief that "students are at the heart of all we do", Mohawk College strives to respond to the changing educational and training needs of our students to ensure they enter the workforce future-ready.
Responding to change and the needs of our students provided the impetus for the comprehensive Fennell Campus Renewal Project. This project involves enhancements to virtually every aspect of student life, from programs and services, to courses and curricula, to student financial support, to the spaces dedicated to learning, creating, studying and socializing.
The cornerstone of the Fennell Campus Renewal Project is the new Learning Exchange. This remarkable three-storey, 4,500 square metre building, built to LEED gold standards, will be a real-world "living lab", designed to spark creative thinking, encourage collaboration and uniquely prepare students for the work force. It will be home to an enhanced library and learning commons and a suite of 10 classrooms, all with the latest in wireless technology. The building will contain state of the art multi-media classrooms, wifi throughout, and a learning commons. Located at the front of campus, overlooking Fennell Avenue West, The Centre will be surrounded by green space for college and community events that will establish Mohawk as a social and cultural hub on Hamilton's West Mountain.
While the facility may be in one physical location, the activities located within it - new methods of curriculum delivery, and models for teaching and learning - will enhance all campuses. The changes to the College's physical appearance will be impressive. The most important outcome of the Fennell Campus Renewal Project will involve the dramatic shift in the culture at Mohawk. Imagination, innovation and enterprise will be the hallmarks of the College and will permeate the curriculum, encouraging students to become the creative problem solvers who will ultimately lead progress in their various industries and fields. There are many sponsorship and naming opportunities for donors to this new, world-class educational facility.
