PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program is intended for registered practical nurses (RPN) wishing to enhance their knowledge and skills in perinatal nursing within their scope of practice.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.

CLINICAL INFORMATION
Clinical courses are scheduled only in the Spring/Summer terms to ensure availability of clinical settings and optimal learning.
Prior to Clinical experience, the following prerequisites must be met:
- Mohawk College medical clearance
- Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) course or a course exemption for same
- Current Mask Fit test & BCLS;
- Police Check if required by agency.

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING
Challenge exams for Introductory to Perinatal Nursing Part 1 and 2 are available for Registered Practical Nurses who meet the clinical prerequisites and who feel they have sufficient knowledge and expertise. All prerequisite clinical experience must be current. Call the Program Manager for registration and prerequisite assessment.
