What is the meaning of the number of hours given for each course?
The number of hours shown are “equivalent classroom hours”. Thus, the workload for a 42 hour distance education course would be about the same as if you took a course through the traditional classroom delivery that is offered three hours per week for 14 weeks. We estimate that the student workload for one course is approximately 6 – 10 hours per week.
How many courses can I take per semester?
You may take as many courses as you want per semester providing you have met the prerequisites stated at the end of the course description. However, depending on your other time commitments, you may want to start with one or two courses. Then you will get a sense of the workload relative to your personal situation. Also, you must keep in mind the prerequisite courses and ensure that you have satisfied this requirement.
May I take more than one course at a time?
Yes, you may take more than one course at a time providing prerequisites have been met. Please keep in mind that you are expected to access your course every 48 hours.
What about textbooks and/or course manuals?
If your course has textbooks and/or manuals, you will be informed through the course outline/syllabus. You can order most textbooks through the Mohawk College Campus store.
Are the courses self-paced?
No, there are specific start and end dates for these courses and a schedule for course activities. You must follow the schedule so that all course work can be compelted on time and be evaluated before your final exam.
What are the withdrawal/refund procedures?
