Program Description
Medical Radiation Sciences (MRSc) Diploma & Degree Program
Mohawk's Medical Radiation Sciences program grants students both an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Health Sciences and Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences. The program is taught at the Institute for Applied Health Sciences, located at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The Mohawk College Medical Radiation Sciences program has been granted a 6 year accreditation status by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).
Experience clinical placement in a variety of hospitals and independent health facilities located throughout Ontario.
The program structure includes:
- Prescribed set of exciting courses over a four-year program
- Common first year, with specialization in years two to four
- Three semesters of clinical education
- Integrated theory and clinical education
- Integrated university and college curriculum
- Three semesters of laboratory preparation for clinical practice
- Interprofessional courses involving students in MRSc programs
At the end of the first year, students apply to the following programs:
- Radiography
- Ultrasonography
- Radiation Therapy
Students are introduced to the specializations in the Level 1 course
MEDRADSC 1A03. Selection is by committee. Students are not guaranteed
their first choice.

Opportunities for Graduates
- Graduates are eligible to write Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists registration examination www.csct.ca
- Graduates are eligible to apply for admission to the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program

Physical Demands
The Medical Radiation Science health professions are intellectually, emotionally and physically demanding. It is important that applicants become familiar with the profession(s) before entering the program so that they are able to function at an acceptable standard.
