Program Description

Occupational Health and Safety professionals are committed to promoting and supporting health and safety activities in all levels of their organizations. This program will help students develop or enhance their knowledge and expertise in workplace health and safety. From advising on health and safety requirements, to supporting Health and Safety Committees, interpreting OH&S act and regulations, and conducting accident/incident investigations, the program covers many facets of workplace health and safety.

Learning from industry professionals, this certificate explores the fundamentals of Occupational Health and Safety, including Fire Safety, Hazard Assessment, Health and Safety Program Development, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and more. These courses will equip students with broader legal and technical knowledge to function effectively in their occupation, and prepare them to complete a written occupational health and safety policy and maintain a program to implement that policy, including defining health and safety objectives and developing policies and procedures.

Many of the courses are delivered in an online format to suit the schedules of working professionals. Developed for supervisors, safety coordinators, occupational health nurses, Joint Health and Safety Committees members and others, this certificate will prepare students to take on an exciting career in Occupational Health & Safety.
