Mohawk College has a customized Post-Secondary English Language Program for you with a Career Focus

Applicants entering Mohawk College Post-Secondary Diploma programs require either:
- a minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper based, 79-80 Internet based, PG courses 560 (88)
- or an IELTS score of 6.0, with no band less than 5.5
- or students can take our English as a Second Language

1. English Language Training - Intensive ESL
After assessing your English language abilities, we will guide you toward classes for your individual skill levels to quickly put you on your path to success.- Language upgrading courses in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Improve your English communication skills in our computer labs using the latest software.
- Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of instruction.
- Join our Mohawk College Conversation Club.
Based on your English assessment test results…
- A customized program in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing will be scheduled just for you.
- A blend of intensive intermediate and advanced English courses are available
- One College Credit course may be added (i.e. Math, Computer, Oral Presentation & other courses)
2. General Arts & Science- Applied Communications # 198
Applied Communications English
- Mohawk College offers a General Arts & Science Program that combines English language training with College credit courses.
- Students are eligible to work off campus after six months of full time study – this helps students earn spending money but more importantly get a better understanding of Canadian culture.
- After they graduate, students can extend their visa and apply for a work permit if they are able to get a job. This gives students a chance to experience a Canadian work environment and get an understanding of the workplace culture before returning home.
- Students can continue in a Post Secondary Program of their choice and apply their course credits.
- If parents study in GAS -Applied Communication (ESL) their children can go to high school or elementary school for free under a special tuition waiver program with Hamilton Wentworth School Board. We will help facilitate applications to the school board to confirm admission.
