How to Apply
- Complete the ESL Application Form
- Enclose a non-refundable application fee in the amount of $100 CDN. This $100 will be waived if applying for a Post Secondary Diploma program at the same time.
- Methods of payment:
- cash (in person only)
- certified cheque for amounts over $500 CDN or money order (in person or by mail)
- VISA or MASTERCARD (in person, or written authorization-with cardholder’s signature)
- bank transfer
- Submit to Mohawk College, International Education, Room J107.
- A Letter of Acceptance including an invoice reflecting your costs, based on your application form, will be sent by mail to you or can be picked up upon request.
- Full payment must be paid two weeks prior to the start of ESL classes to Mohawk College, International Education, Room J107.

On receipt of the Letter of Acceptance, if you are planning to study for more than six months, you should begin preparations for obtaining your Study Permit by taking the original letter to the nearest Canadian Consulate Office. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain a Study Permit to study in Canada. If you plan to study for less than six months, you may be required to obtain a temporary resident visa (formerly called a Visitor Visa).
Please Note: Mohawk College reserves the right to limit, cancel, adjust or relocate classes/courses/programs of instruction, if necessary. Classes will be cancelled if they do not meet minimum enrolment levels before the start date. The College will make diligent effort to contact you in advance if a class must be cancelled, however, the College cannot assume responsibility for any expenses (travel, etc.) incurred if you arrive for a class that has been cancelled or rescheduled.
Once we have processed your application, you will receive:
- A "Letter of Acceptance"
- An invoice for tuition costs. (Bank draft, Money order, and Bank Transfer as other methods of payment)
- Contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate to begin preparations for your Student Study Permit.
- You are responsible for obtaining a Study Permit to study in Canada.
- A Visitor's visa or a Temporary Resident status is required for language courses of less than 6 months
- After 6 months, a Study Permit to study in Canada is required.
On Arrival: the student is required to pay their invoice in full at the International Education Services Office at Mohawk College Fennell Campus in room J107, two weeks prior to the start of ESL classes.
