International Business Management Program
Post Graduate Certificate Program
The International business program is an ideal program for those who are interested in leveraging their undergraduate skills with a specialization in International Trade. This program was designed in collaboration with the Forum for International Trade Training and is intended to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to help companies move goods across international borders efficiently and effectively.
- International Business Program Guide
Review the guide to get a sense of the commitment required.
If you are planning to study in Canada on a study visa and have been accepted into the program we recommend you complete the following assignment to support your success in the program. Visit the how to apply section to complete an International Visa Student Application.
Pre-Program Assignment:
The following assignment has been designed to add relevance and context for an accelerated and applied program of study.
- Review the International Business Program Guide for students and parents
- Read a few articles on International Trade / Globalization - search the internet for information / contacts
- Start developing a Network of contacts that will support your future. Study the "Art of Networking".
- Prepare a resume that outlines a profile of your skills and experience
- Interview Trade executives to gain insight and interest in the field of international trade and set a context for your learning.
To support your understanding of trade issues when you arrive in Canada we would like you to do the following:
- Research companies in your region that export goods around the world.
- Try to get an interview with a senior manager from at least three companies that export. See the Employer Interview Guide for assistance in the process.
- Ask them a few questions, the answers to which will give you insight into the world of International Trade.
Sample Questions:- What issues / problems do you have with exporting to other countries?
- How much do these problems cost your company?
- How have you resolved these problems to move forward? (Add in other relevant questions but make good use of the executives time.)
- Prepare a report for the company outlining the issues as you understand them.
- Thank them for the opportunity to connect with real trade issues before you travel abroad to start your program.
