Employer Benefits:

To hire the perfect candidate(s) for your recruitment needs please follow these simple steps.

Step 1 - Preparing a Position Description

A well written position description is extremely important, affecting the type of students who will apply to your position. The appropriate Employment Consultant in the Mohawk Job Centre can provide guidance regarding both content and format. If possible, please send the description by email.  This provides us with an electronic version which saves time in data entry.

Step 2 - Posting

Your position description is posted as an Interview Schedule for Co-op students in the specified discipline(s). Those interested in applying submit an electronic resume during the application period (usually 3-5 days in duration).

Step 3 - Applicant Resumes

The Mohawk Job Centre will forward the resumes to you by your choice of email, fax, or courier.

Step 4 - Interviews

When you have selected the candidates you wish to interview, please complete the "Fax Back" form included in your resume package.

Step 5 - Candidate Selection

After your interviews, we will ask for a ranking of students according to preference for hiring, i.e. 1st choice, 2nd choice etc. Rank only those you would be prepared to hire. The position will be offered to your first choice. If the student accepts the position, we will notify you by phone and follow with a confirmation letter.

Step 6 - During the Work Term

An Employment Consultant from the Mohawk Job Centre will conduct a site visit, by appointment, normally between weeks 5 and 12 of the Work Term. Both the student and the supervisor are interviewed individually at this time, to discuss student performance, progress on learning objectives etc. We ask that you complete a formal evaluation of the student at the end of the Work Term.
