“Today’s Family” to feature Canada’s Mohawk College

July 26, 2005, Deerfield Beach, FL – Platinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of Mohawk College for its innovative, educational television series, Today’s Family. The company will be featured in a segment on “The Importance of Choosing the Right College.”

Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology, located in Ontario, is one of Canada’s leading educational institutions with a solid reputation for excellence in learning, quality and innovative programs focused on job-ready graduates. The college is committed to supporting the individual development of every student, as well as providing meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning. The staff values and supports the rich diversity of the students by providing market-driven programs and services that build knowledge and skills, while cultivating attitudes of commendable citizenship.

A total of 101 full-time certificate, diploma, and degree programs in applied arts, business, health sciences, human services, and technology are offered at Mohawk College. Each year more than 10,000 full time students enroll, leading Mohawk to be one of the largest colleges in Ontario. The college is a leader in engineering technology education and the largest apprenticeship trainer in the province with more than 3,000 apprenticeship students. Healthcare education is another area of excellence and specialization for the college. Also, Mohawk is the largest education center in Ontario for the training of professionals in medical imaging and is a national leader in the delivery of nursing programs. Through a variety of recognized programs, the college is committed to practical learning that’s relevant for today’s workplace. Almost every degree or diploma program at Mohawk includes some form of experiential learning through lab or fieldwork, clinical placement, or co-operative education work terms.

Although academics are important, having a fun and active social life is a vital part of the college experience as well. Mohawk College maintains a student-friendly atmosphere where it’s easy to meet people and get involved in campus activities. The college Student Life Department and the very active Mohawk Student’s Association work hard to keep students entertained with a wide variety of orientation activities, student appreciation days, concerts, and weekly pub nights. The student center is financed and run by students so they have a complete say in what is offered. There are also plenty of varsity athletics and recreational activities available at Mohawk. Team sports such as basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and baseball present students with lots of opportunities for fun, fitness, and competition.
