Mohawk Fastball Defeat
The Mohawk women’s fastball team saw its Ontario Colleges Athletic Association record slip to 1-1 with a 7-1 loss to the Conestoga Condors in Kitchener Tuesday (Sept. 19).
Katie Westoby, who drove in the lone run for the Mountaineers, was tagged with the defeat. Westoby, making her first start since injuring her shoulder in summer ball in early August, pitched a pretty good game, despite the score, according to Mohawk head coach Brian Weller. ”Katie put the ball in play, but there were some errors behind her. We are also struggling on offense, added Weller, “We had the bases loaded twice and couldn’t get anyone in.”
Conestoga is already well into it’s schedule. The Condors have played five games, winning three of them.
The Mountaineers are getting set for a busy weekend in Oshawa. Friday night they meet the Durham Lords in OCAA play. They then take part in Durham’s annual Can Am Classic Invitational Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
