Double OCAA Awards for MohawkMohawk College has won two more awards from the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.
Fifth year volleyball setter Peter Sniuolis has been named Male Athlete of the week after he capped off his brilliant career with a Canadian Colleges Athletic Association bronze medal.
Sniuolis consistently hit the mark, which was apparent in the offensive numbers of his teammates at the CCAA Men's Volleyball Championship at Humber College. In Mohawk's 3-1 win over Limoilou in the bronze medal game, Sniuolis led his side with exceptional decision making and execution of sets, leading four Mountaineers to score in double figures. The Ancaster native also chipped in with three kills, two blocks and 11 digs in the win.
Sniuolis was also selected player of the game in the semi-final versus Mount Royal and along with teammate Jasmin Cull, was named to the First Team Championship All Tournament team.
Meanwhile, Mohawk has won the Mixed Team of the Week honour after winning its section in the OCAA Curling Championship in Windsor.
The Mountaineers, skipped by Kris Blonski, downed Confederation 7-4 in the gold medal contest. Mohawk went 4-0 in the round robin beating Confederation (10-3), Niagara (10-3), Sault College (8-3) and Fleming of Peterborough (8-5).
