Knowles Gets National Recognition
Mohawk’s Jennifer Knowles is at the head of the class in awards for the 2009-10 women’s volleyball season. Knowles has been named a Canadian Colleges Athletic Association All-Canadian. In 20 matches and 69 total games, the product of Burlington Lord Elgin had 204 kills, 16 service aces and 37 stuff blocks for 257 offensive points, averaging 3.72 offensive points per game. She was also strong defensively, with 130 digs.
Knowles was also an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Region First Team All-Star and was the CCAA Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Month in Ontario for November.
Other Mohawk volleyball honours included Jenna Gignac and Rachel VanHartingsveldt being named to the Women’s West Region Second All-Star Team, while Ian Cameron and Mitchell Sawatsky were selected to the Men’s West Region Second All-Star Team.
