Women’s Pre-Season Soccer
Redeemer spotted Mohawk a quick lead, then bounced back for a 3-1 victory in a pre-season OCAA women's soccer match at Costco Field in Ancaster, September 8.
An Ashley Hagen volley put the Mountaineers in front just moments after the opening kickoff and the visitors held a wide territorial advantage. However, the Royals struck for two quick goals in the dying minutes of the first half. April Passchier, with a free kick just outside the 18 yard box, found the upper left hand corner of the Mohawk goal, then Tina Reid had a tap-in which gave her side the lead in stoppage time. Ten minutes into the second half, Kristi Van Duyvendyk's long range, but perfectly placed drive, gave Redeemer an insurance marker.
Mohawk’s women’s and men’s varsity soccer sides open their OCAA regular season schedules Wednesday (Sep. 15) against the Humber Hawks at Mohawk Sports Park. Both games kick off at 4:30 pm.
