Mohawk College runners fashion top ten performances
A pair of Mohawk College runners fashioned top ten performances in the opening invitational cross country race of the OCAA season on the Fanshawe Conservation Area course in London Saturday, September 24. The efforts of Hassan Ishaq and Jon Redfearn led the Mountaineers to a third place result in the men's team standings.
Ishaq finished ninth, timed in 29.17 for the eight kilometre event. Redfearn was just one second behind in 10th place. Michael Marshall was 22nd in 30.28. Other Mohawk times included Lovejeet Singh (32.58), John Miles (33.58) Jeremy Connell (34.07) and Darren Chow (37.41).
Clint Smith of Fanshawe won the race in 26.44, just one second ahead of George Brown's Sean Sweeney.
Brittany Russell was the lone Mohawk runner entered in the women's 5K race, and finished 30th in 24.13
Humber's Vicky Siemon was the only woman to crack 20 minutes, winning the race in 19.07.
