Power Engineering Techniques Certificate
The Power Engineering Techniques program at Mohawk College is a one-year Ontario College Certificate offered at the STARRT Institute in Stoney Creek (Hamilton), Ontario.
Students will experience the rewarding challenges of operating and maintaining diverse equipment related to a power plant. The Power Engineering Techniques program provides students with the opportunity to:
- explore the use of steam and hot water boilers, air compressors, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
- understand the use of large reciprocating engines fueled by natural gas and emergency generators driven by diesel engines
- prepare for the Technical Standards and Safety Authority 4th Class Operating Engineering, Gas and Oil Burner Technician III examinations
Students have the option of continuing in 2nd semester as a Power Engineer or Utilities student if enrolled into September program.
Work Term
Graduates of the program will be required to obtain additional steam time experience beyond that of the 12-week work term. The professor will provide an explanation at the start of the program.
