Applied Communications Centre
What We Do
Mohawk College offers courses for second language speakers in post secondary programs. The ACC (Applied Communications Centre) department, found within Language Studies, assists students in developing their English Language Skills. All courses offered in the ACC department have an increased focus on the English Language, as well as regular course content. The credit received from these courses will replace the regular Language courses.
Due to the increased numbers of Second Language Speakers enrolled in Post Secondary Programs, there have been concerns about the language performance level of many students. The mission of the ACC is to identify and assess the language proficiency of Mohawk College students, as well as deliver courses that meet the language needs of these students while giving credit for mainstream Communications, Active Citizenship and Research and Reporting courses.
The Applied Communications Centre is located in Room J137D at the Fennell Campus of Mohawk College.
