Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Overview

Pre-Admissions test(s) are used for applicants that do not meet or are missing the eligibility requirements for the program they have applied to. Applicants will be informed of any missing requirements by either Admissions or the International Department. These areas will assess and determine if the applicant is eligible to write the Pre-Admission test(s) for the missing subjects (i.e., Math, Grade 12 English).

In order to be eligible to write a Pre-Admission test(s), all applicants must have received a testing referral from Admissions. Once a testing referral has been created, the applicant will be referred to contact the Testing Centre at 905-575-2448 to schedule an appointment.

Important Information

  • Pre-Admission tests are valid for three (3) Mohawk College intake terms, with the exception of the Language Test which can be re-written after 6 months. Intake terms include Fall, Winter and Summer.

  • The test will replace a missing credit from your transcript for eligibility into a program at Mohawk College only

  • The grades are not transferrable to other colleges

  • Successful completion of the Pre-Admissions Test(s) does not guarantee you an offer of admission to a program at Mohawk College. Offers are based on you meeting the specific admission requirements of the program to which you have applied. Please contact your Advisor if you have any questions about the status of your application.

The use of external aids are not permitted, unless indicated.

Testing Fee

If writing the Pre-Admissions English, Language or Math test, there is a testing fee of $30 + HST. If writing two tests, there is a testing fee of $40 + HST.  Payment instructions will be provided at the time of booking. Pre-Admission testing fees are non-refundable.

How to Book

  1. After applicants have applied to a program at Mohawk College, they will receive notification that they are missing requirements. Once received, applicants must request to write a Pre-Admission test(s) from the Admissions or International department to have a testing referral created.

For a referral:

  • Domestic applicants, contact Admissions: coach [at] mohawkcollege.ca (coach[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)

  • International applicants, contact International : intered [at] mohawkcollege.ca (intered[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)

  • Continuing Education applicants: All Continuing Education students are required to contact Continuing Education to determine if they meet the admission requirements for their program. A staff member from the area must then send the Pre-Admission Testing Centre a testing referral.

  1. Tests can only be booked once a referral has been generated therefore, applicants are required to contact the appropriate area for a referral. Once a referral has been generated, applicants will receive further instructions from the Pre-Admission Testing Centre on how to proceed with scheduling an appointment.

Applicants who require testing accommodations will be required to identify themselves when requesting an appointment with the Testing Centre.

  1. Prepare for your test using the sample questions. Please see the Sample Questions section below.

  2. Pre-Admission Tests are administered in-person at the Fennell campus.  For applicants that require online, virtual proctoring options, all technical requirements must be confirmed and met. For technical requirements, please see the Examity Accuplacer website. As online testing utilizes a third party proctor, an additional fee may be required. For questions regarding technical requirements, please email preadmissiontesting [at] mohawkcollege.ca (preadmissiontesting[at]mohawkcollege[dot]ca)

  3. Write your test(s).

  4. You will receive an email when your results have been processed, with contact information of the area that will be contacting you with your next steps.
