Peer Tutor Services Guidelines for Students

Tutors WILL NOT do your homework or class assignments for you.
Please refer to the college’s Academic Honesty Policy

Come prepared for your tutoring sessions – bring your textbook, notes and questions!

Tutoring is available Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM and Saturdays: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Tutoring MUST TAKE PLACE ON CAMPUS!

Courses being tutored are dependent on available tutors and their timetables. Availability of 2nd and 3rd year tutors may be limited.

Appointments are booked 3 days in advance. You are responsible for re-booking appointments. APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESCHEDULED.

You can receive two hours of tutoring per week.

Tutoring appointments can be booked online anytime. Tutoring appointments may also be booked in person or over the phone at the Peer Tutor Centre Booking Desk located in the Learning Support Centre, room C122, Fennell Campus (905.575.1212 x 3279).

If you are unable to keep an appointment for any reason, you can cancel online or notify the staff of the Peer Tutor Centre at:

You must give 24-hours notice to cancel an appointment. If you miss an appointment or cancel without 24 hours notice, you may jeopardize your eligibility to continue receiving peer tutoring services. If you accumulate 2 missed appointments or 3 less than 24-hours notice cancellations, you will only be eligible for the drop-in services (no one-on-one tutoring for the remainder of the semester).

If your tutor does not show-up for an appointment, notify the Peer Tutor Centre staff at 905.575.1212 x 3279 or drop by immediately. Your tutor will be notified to call you and reschedule the appointment. Please confirm with the Peer Tutor Staff that your appointment was rescheduled.

If a tutor has cancelled an appointment due to illness or extenuating circumstances (i.e. class change) we cannot guarantee another tutor for your scheduled time. Your tutor will contact you and reschedule your appointment within the same week.

You will meet your tutor in the Peer Tutor Centre, located in the Learning Support Centre, room C122, Fennell Campus. If you are at an outlying campus you will meet your tutor at the Student Engagement Office (Student Administration at Mohawk-Laurier). Please sign the sign in sheet at the Booking /Student Engagement desk and wait for you tutor at the desk or a designated waiting area. If your appointment is after 4:30 PM on Friday or anytime on Saturday you will meet your Peer Tutor at the Learning Support Centre/Student Engagement doors. You may use the Centre for your tutoring session or another suitable location on campus. After hours appointments can be anywhere on campus, but we suggest the library
