The United Way Garage Sale planned for Saturday September 10th is cancelled due to the ongoing strike by Ontario’s 8,000 Support Staff workers.
The United Way Garage Sale is a tradition that has spanned three decades at Mohawk College and we were looking forward to celebrating its 30th year on Saturday. We are deeply sorry to cancel an event that is enjoyed by many in our community and which is an important fundraiser for the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton.
However, with no assurances from OPSEU union representatives that access to the College will not be disrupted by picket lines, both Mohawk and the United Way agree that cancelling the event is the responsible decision. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Mohawk College is a proud supporter of our local United Way, and we look forward to many events in the future.
