The Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College

Today, Mohawk is building the region’s first net zero building:

The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation (JCP&I). In recognition of Mohawk’s leadership in sustainability, the Canada Green Building Council selected the JCP&I as a national pilot project to demonstrate its new net-zero energy carbon standard and validation process. The JCP&I won the Council’s Innovation in Sustainability Award for 2017.

The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation will become home to the Centre for Climate Change Management @ Mohawk College.

The centre will be a catalyst to support regional action on climate change and provide opportunities for students to live, learn and lead in the development of applied climate change mitigation strategies and initiatives that will:

  • Support and strengthen a regional, coordinated approach to tackling climate change in partnership with the City of Hamilton and the City of Burlington
  • Establish and share best practices for reducing, managing and measuring emissions among Ontario colleges
  • Use work-integrated learning opportunities to support businesses to be successful in the low carbon economy
