Property Protection

Property Protection is a crime prevention program designed to deter theft and assist in identifying the owner of any recovered stolen property.

Engrave Property:

Using an electronic engraver, mark all property with an identifiable number.  This number should be unique to you personally and trackable by security or police.   Your Ontario Drivers License number or your Mohawk Student ID would be good examples of this number.

The number should be readily visible without marring the appearance of the items. A second number (hidden) is recommended.  Also remember to record the make, model and serial number and keep this information in a safe place.

What Should I Engrave?

  • Laptops
  • Tablets
  • Computers
  • Bicycles
  • Skateboard
  • Televisions

Keep moveable assets and equipment secure by:

  • Lock it or Lose it!

    • Keep all doors locked.
  • Put it Away
    • Don’t leave anything out in plain sight, inviting individuals to walk off with your property. This would include bicycles, tools or any other valuable items. Property crime can occur in seconds.
    • Also remember to not leave valuables in plain sight inside your vehicle. Even if it is locked, your vehicle can be entered quickly. Take those laptops and cell phones with you.
  • Report suspicious or unusual behaviours to security immediately
