Maybe it was just a way to keep warm.
The Mohawk Mountaineers and Conestoga Condors ended the season with a doubleheader which was originally scheduled for October 2, but was washed out.
Monday (Oct. 15) the two teams combined for 43 runs on 63 hits. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, they were on the losing end in both games, as Conestoga headed home with 15-8 and 12-8 victories.
In the opener, Conestoga led 7-1 after two innings. They then made it 9-1 in the top of the fourth. Mohawk scored five times in their half of the fourth frame, but the Condors got five themselves the next inning and would not be caught.
Sarah Lisecki had three RBI for Conestoga. For Mohawk, Shelby Hayward was 4-for-5, with an RBI and three runs scored. Brianne Forti was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Brooke Billings beat Kelsey Hanly.
In game two, another high scoring affair, Laura Rumph had three hits and four RBI for the Condors and Shelby Hayward drove home a pair of runs for the Mountaineers.
Emily Lush beat Alyssa Van der Werf.
Conestoga finished their season with an 8-16 record, while Mohawk wound up 4-20, losing their last nine games.
