THAT was a tough one for the hometown Mohawk Mountaineers' men's basketball team. Fanshawe beat them 86-84 at the DBARC Tuesday (Oct. 30).
Mohawk trailed by 22 points late in the third quarter, but made a huge comeback to tie the game with 14 seconds left. The Falcons then tipped in a miss, with three seconds left, to win.
Emanuel Otong led the Mountaineers' attack with 30 points and nine rebounds. Cudjoe Masuka scored 19 and had seven rebounds and Terrance Lennox had 18 points and seven boards.
Chris Parker scored 19 points for the Falcons.
"I am real proud that we fought back," said Mohawk head coach Brian Jonker. "It was one of those losses that will keep me up all night, but I think there are a lot of positives for a young team."
