Youthful Mountaineers Have A Rough Night On the Court

The Fanshawe Falcons continued to roll, at the expense of the upstart Mohawk Mountaineers, downing the home side 77-42 in OCAA women's basketball at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre Tuesday (Oct. 30).

Sam Pocrnic once again led the Mountaineers with 17 points, while Liana Hughes added nine, for the 0-2 Mohawk youngsters.

The Falcons, improved to 4-0 and were paced by Chuot Angou, who scored a game high 19 points, Mikhaila Wright chipped in with 14.

"We were overmatched," said Mohawk Head Coach Kevin Duffy.  "(Fanshawe is) an excellent, experienced team and our young kids just weren’t ready for that level of competition. It’s going to be a hard journey for us this year, but we will continue to use every experience to better ourselves and build towards improving throughout the year," Duffy said.
