The Mountaineer men’s volleyball side followed up on their 3-0 win over the Boreal Vipers Friday, defeating another Sudbury side, the Cambrian Golden Shield 3-0 Saturday (Nov. 24).
The set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-17, as Mohawk pushed their record to 5-3, while their Nickel City visitors dropped their eighth straight decision.
Elijah Lopez led the Mountaineers with 11 kills and 12 digs. Michael Kong had 10 kills and Daniel Fontanna recorded 29 assists.
For Cambrian, Jason Nadeau collected 10 kills. Lucas Claveau had nine kills and 13 digs. Cole Krassey contributed 26 assists.
Mohawk head coach Vinny Saporito praised the Sudbury opposition. “Cambrian went hard at us and did test us in multiple ways, but I’m proud our guys pulled it out in three,” Saporito said.
